ARPA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES WINNERS
Hollywood,California (November 19, 2015) The 18th annual ARPA International Film Festival is officially a wrap. At Sunday’s closing ceremony at The Egyptian Theater, the main competition jury awarded the Best Feature Film Award to Lost Birds, the acclaimed Armenian genocide drama from filmmakers Ela Alyamac and Aren Perdeci.
Three days of screening 46 independent films from 22 countries, the 18th Annual Arpa International Film Festival concluded featuring seven presenters, Michael Arabian, Anne Bedian, Bertila Damas, Rick Rosenthal, Janet Roth, Hrach Titizian, and Karina Weekswho graced the stage and introduced the award winners. Half-way through the ceremony, soulful singer, Shaherah White warmed the room singing My Funny Valentine.
The final award of the night, the Lifetime Achievement Award, was presented to award-winning actor Esai Morales by director Rick Rosenthal who directed Morales in the epic film Bad Boys. An outstanding actor and activist, Morales captivated the audience when sharing a personal story about facing a fear and then emboldened them with a passionate plea …

NOVEMBER 13 — Opening Night

The Festival begins at 6:30 p.m. with the red carpet event. Guests and Opening Night ticket purchasers will enjoy a festive Welcome Reception with delicious Mediterranean cuisine, wine, and music. After noshing, sipping, and hobnobbing, the theatre doors open at 8:00 p.m. for the screening of feature film, Lost Birds. A brief Q&A with the filmmakers will follow the screening. Then the evening will close out with a yummy Dessert Reception in the courtyard of the Egyptian Theatre.

NOVEMBER 14 — Centerpiece Screening

The red carpet opens at 6:30 p.m. Take a moment to enjoy the beautiful courtyard before the 8:00 p.m. Centerpiece film screening of feature film, En Avant. Following the screening, a filmmaker Q&A will be conducted. Immediately after the Q&A, guests can partake of the delectable food and wine at the private reception.

NOVEMBER 15 — Closing Night Screening & Awards Ceremony

At 6:30 p.m. the red carpet opens. Then, celebrities, dignitaries, and fans will enter the theatre with bated breath for the 7:30pm Closing Night screening of short film, The Sandwich Island Man and the start of the Awards Ceremony. After the Awards Ceremony, you can chat it up at the private reception, while savoring scrumptious Mediterranean fare, libations, and music in the courtyard of the Egyptian Theatre.

Founded in 1995 by Sylvia Minassian, the Arpa Foundation for Film, Music and Art is a non-profitorganization, formed for the purpose of promoting the arts and enhancing the cultural environmentof our community by supporting artists who bridge the cultural divide, unifying diverse people and cultures through the arts.

Since its inception, Arpa Foundation has supported a spectrum of artists including writers, photographers, filmmakers, dancers, designers, actors and musicians, by staging networking events, concerts, art exhibits, book signings, fashion shows, talent shows, musical performances, lectures, forums, comedy nights, special screenings, private premiers, and most significantly staging its signature event, the Arpa International Film Festival since 1997.

Through its film festival, the Arpa Foundation has awarded industry legends, with Lifetime Achievement, Career Achievement, Humanitarian and Breakthrough Artist Awards. It has also dedicated programs to Stewardship, to GEMAI, Global Event and Media Accessibility initiative,championing inclusion for blind, deaf, and hard of hearing audiences, and also programs dedicated to Women in Film, such as presenting programs of “Artistry and Mystique in Cinema,” with film programs showcasing international women filmmakers.
