The opening reception for the new presentationTyranny of Distance at Tin Flats on Thursday, Nov. 8th from 6p.m. to 9pm with a curatorial walk-through (with an unexpected reveal!) & reading of the book “Sydney, 1981” Saturday, Nov. 10th performance from noon-3 p.m. with a showcase of artistic talent performing both at Tin Flats and simultaneously at ESBA in Angers, France.
FLAX @ Tin FlatsFLAX (France Los Angeles Exchange) program director Anna Milone oversees this trailblazing performing arts activation in partnership with TinFlats in the heart of Frogtown (1989 Blake Ave) focusing on the notions of process and translation—exploring the transition space in which they develop and the actions they offer. On view through Nov 30, 2018 with an public opening celebration on Nov. 8th from 6-9 p.m., the latest in a series of compelling exhibitions, The Tyranny of Distance takes place simultaneously in two continents (Los Angeles and ESBA in Angers, France) with all the artists tackling the question of translation in time and space by presenting artworks in both places. These programs are complemented by a performance on Saturday, Nov. 10th with a showcase of artistic talent including Jasmin Blasco, David Lamellas, David Horvitz, Pierre Paulin and an activation of Spatial Poem #9 by Mieko Shiomi as well as weekly screenings presented in the parking lot of Tin Flats, which has been transformed into a drive-in theater. https://flaxfoundation.org/initiative/the-tyranny-of-distance/
