Concern Foundation’s Most Spectacular 41st Annual Block Party
Concern Foundation hosted the spectacular 41st annual block party, An Evening in Paradise, at the Paramount Studios New York Street Backlot on Saturday evening, July 11, 2015 in Los Angeles. Proceeds from the fundraiser go to cancer research. Four thousand guests at the gala mingled, danced and dined in casual but elegant attire. The revelers sampled food and drinks presented by 60 caterers and restaurants. Savore Catering, StoneFire Grill, El Floridita Restaurant, Sambar, Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Grill, Foco De Chao, Factor’s Famous Deli, Pink’s Hot Dogs, Rosti Tuscan Kitchen, La Provence Patisserie & Café, and Dandy Don’s HomeMade Ice Cream, Reed’s Ginger Brew and Weaver’s coffee & tea were just a small sampling of the delectable culinary fare offered.
A silent auction, in which bidding could also be done online, presented a selection of trips, artwork, beauty services, and collectibles.
Hula dancers and musicians entertained the crowd on four stages. An Infiniti Lounge with the luxury vehicle on display presented wine tastings. One huge section of the event featured gaming tables where quests enjoyed throwing dice and playing cards. Marinello School of Beauty offered tropical hair styling for the ladies, haircuts for the men, as well as free makeup sessions.
The block party was absolutely amazing and so much fun, but the history of Concern Foundation has a serious backstory. Concern Foundation’s date of inception was back in 1968 when Beverly Wolman, a woman and mother of only 35, was diagnosed with terminal cancer. In memory of Beverly, her friends and colleagues in Los Angeles rallied together to form Concern Foundation, an acronym for conquer CANCER Now. Concern’s focus has always been on cancer immunology. For the past 47 years, Concern Foundation has provided extensive funding and awarded grants to over 750 scientists, and has also welcomed many up and coming researchers into the field. Concern Foundation consistently provides a bold and innovative resource to scientific research.
