ARTS COMPLEX IN HOLLYWOOD
On November 10th Senior Star Power Productions will present their new musical revue “We Have A Dream” at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre. This exclusive event is Senior Star Power’s initial fundraiser for establishing a year round Senior Theatrical Arts Complex in Hollywood.
“Age is only a number,” affirms “Pink Lady” Jackie Goldberg, President and CEO of Senior Star Power, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit. She is also the producer of a series of highly successful, Ovation Award nominated musical theater productions featuring talented performers over the age of 60. “After a four year run of sold out shows, we have a tremendous demand for additional productions,” explains the petite, pink clad powerhouse. She is not alone. The Mayor and Councilmember, Mitch O’Farrell, recognize the potential value her vision and organization bring to Los Angeles.
“Our dream is to raise funding for a permanent facility to house our productions and to create programs that will involve not only seniors but the entire community. Our mission is to engage, inspire and enrich the lives of seniors through the arts which in turn will enhance the lives of our community at large,” declares The Pink Lady. “By employing senior performers we will also develop mentoring programs for all ages, an idea that appeals to Victor Dominguez, Vice President of the Los Angeles Metropolitan YMCA,” said Ms. Goldberg.
Attendees to this event will include such notables as Councilman Mitch O’Farrell, Margaret O’Brien, George Chakiris, Leron Gubler of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and Nyla and Oscar Arslanian from the Hollywood Arts Council and Discover Hollywood Magazine.
