LA SKINS FILM FEST WELCOMES DIRECTOR MORALES-HEMENWAY WITH ROMANTIC COMEDY BRIDE +1

Who?

With imagination and tenacity award-winning director, writer and actress Christina Morales Hemenway has been living true to her artistic

voice since bribing the neighborhood kids to be in her productions in Ann Arbor, Michigan. While in high school she earned a full scholarship to study with world famous mime, Marcel Marceau. She later continued her artistic development at California Institute of the Arts earning a BFA in Performance.

Since then she has written and directed several shorts, music videos, and 4 feature films: Autumn Leaves, Dreammaker, Naked Angel and the upcoming romantic comedy, Bride+1. Dreammaker won the Audience Choice Award and/or Best Feature film in every festival in which it has played with screenings in Los Angeles, Chicago, Louisville, Ann Arbor and Rome, Italy. The films were distributed nationwide and can be found online.

Her feature film, Naked Angel, was an official selection of the Detroit Winsor Film Festival and so far has enjoyed successful screenings at the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor and the Screen Actor’s Guild Foundation in Los Angeles.
Christina is presently coaching actors and gearing up to do the festival circuit with her feature, Bride +1. Christina spends her time in Michigan and L.A. where she is in development on several projects that she will direct.

What?

Filmmaker, Christina Morales Hemenway, stars in this hilarious romantic comedy with a fabulous cast you’ll recognize from Will & Grace (Yelyna De Leon), Independence Day (James Duval) and the Academy Award-winning film for Best Motion Picture Green Book (Don DiPetta).

Bride +1 tells the story of Clarissa, a 39 year old Latina woman who has never been married, but wants kids. So she sends out a “save the date” notice for her wedding to all her loved ones, even though she has no groom– yet. She figures if she builds it, her groom will come.

The film, written and directed by Morales Hemenway and produced by Dancingstar Productions showcases a cast starring Morales Hemenway as the determined bride-to-be Clarissa, James Duval (Jothem), Yelyna De León (Bita), Don DiPetta (Manny), Michael Morano (Gregorio), and Johnny Moreno (Esteban).

About the 13th Annual LA Skins Fest:

The Festival is an initiative of the Native American non-profit the Barcid Foundation and aims to showcase the rising talent in Native American filmmaking. This year the LA SKINS FEST is expanding the screening series to accommodate the growing talent in Indian Country.

The prestigious LA SKINS FEST ranks among the country’s best film festivals and is an annual gathering for film industry insiders, cinema enthusiasts, filmmakers, and critics. The LA Skins Fest is considered a major launching ground for Indian Country’s most talked about films. Founded in 2007, the Los Angeles Skins Fest, presented in the historic TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, is a 6-day multicultural event celebrating the art of film, TV and new media.
