Silver Lake Picture Show
Silver Lake Picture Show Announces 2014 Lineup!
After two successful seasons, LA’s free walk-in movie theater returns
to Sunset Triangle Plaza for a third season in 2014.
Beginning June 26th, LA’s best free outdoor cinema, The Silver Lake Picture Show, returns to the
Sunset Triangle Plaza due to the overwhelming support from the community, media, and
local businesses! The Silver Lake Picture Show continues to be dedicated to giving local artists an
opportunity to share their work with their community by introducing each feature film with a
short by a local filmmaker.
The event is proudly put on by the Silver Lake Picture Show organization with the support of
Mayor Garcetti, Los Angeles City Councilman Mitch O’Farrell, Silver Lake Improvement
Association, the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council, Starlite Cinemas and several local businesses.
Bring your own chairs (BYOC) and bring your own picnics (BYOP), we’ll bring the movies and
popcorn! June 26th starts with ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Secret of the Ooze’!
The Silver Lake Picture Show is one of the many triumphantly returning outdoor movie theaters
in Los Angeles, but what makes the Picture Show unique is its support for and collaboration with
community organizations and their initiatives; its support of local businesses including local
restaurants, (we do not allow traveling food trucks); its collaboration with other local non-profit
arts organizations such as the Echo Park Film Center; and its emphasis on the art of local
filmmakers and supporting the distribution and appreciation of the cinematic arts outside of the
profit focused Hollywood industry. At the Picture Show, we want to provide an opportunity for
Los Angeles filmmakers to share their art with a larger community on a big screen. We also want
to provide a space for community members to honor and appreciate the filmmakers living
amongst them.
And best of all – it’s FREE for everyone!
Last summer the Picture Show proved to be one of LA’s most popular community events, with
upwards of a combined 3800+ people coming out to seven movies. This summer The Silver Lake
Picture Show will be even bigger as we continue to celebrate both classic and contemporary film
with a free, bi-monthly outdoor screening that brings Los Angeles’ diverse community together in
a public space.
Communities will be introduced to the filmmakers who live next door.
Filmmakers will be able to share their work with a large audience on the big screen.
And everybody gets to watch a great movie!
